First Look: Foresight Falcon Overhead Launch Monitor

The industry leader in launch monitors has announced an addition to their expanding lineup of simulation technologies.

Introducing Foresight Falcon.

This overhead launch monitor and golf simulator aims to capture the growing need for indoor golf simulation at a lower price (and smaller size) than Foresight’s successful GCHawk overhead launch monitor.

Here’s what you can expect from Foresight’s Falcon launch monitor and how it might be the right launch monitor for your indoor space.

Tech Specs

  • 43 inches long
  • 26 pounds
  • Ethernet, USB-C Wifi connections
  • On-board power supply
  • Four cameras
  • 14 data points collected
  • 55” x 27” hitting area
  • Two-year warranty
  • Starts at $14,999 (includes FSX Play software)

Growing Demand

If there’s anything I can surmise from the release of the Foresight Falcon, it’s that golf simulation is in high demand. Consumers are craving the ability to play, practice and learn indoors.

That’s the bread and butter behind the Foresight Falcon. While the Falcon is (somewhat) billed as an entertainment piece, it’s backed by the Foresight accuracy you know and trust. Built on the same four-camera photometric system as the GCHawk, the Falcon provides the same level of accuracy and wealth of data in a form factor that’s roughly half the size of its predecessor.

“The Falcon packs everything you expect from a Foresight product into a smaller, lighter model that beats every competitive newcomer feature by feature. In the simulation space, the GCHawk was the category creator,” said Foresight Sports Co-President, Jon Watters. “The Foresight Falcon will be the category expander for those looking for a simulator expression that fits their space, use case and budget.”

Foresight Falcon Launch Monitor

If the Falcon’s golf simulation capabilities are its engine, Foresight’s photometric camera system is the fuel that powers it.

Perhaps the most underrated (and beneficial) thing about the new Falcon as compared to something like the tried and trusted GCQuad is the fact that it’s meant to be mounted overhead.

In layman’s terms, this removes the need to “flip” the launch monitor from side to side depending on your handedness. As the token lefty at MGS HQ, I’m often left out of the office GCQuad competitions because flipping it between shots just seems like too much work.

A Few Missing Features

If you own the original GCHawk, you’re probably wondering if it’s worth upgrading to the Falcon. Based on size and weight alone, the Falcon is a more formidable device for the everyday golfer building their golf simulator.

That said, there’s one weakness (albeit small) of the Falcon that I would have liked to see. The GCHawk features a multi-sport mode that allows you to play soccer, too. The Falcon does not have that capability.

Yes, it’s a small change. But if you plan on using your simulator space for both sports, you’re going to have to stick with the bigger, more expensive GCHawk.

It’s also worth noting that, due to the smaller size, the Falcon’s hitting area is a little bit smaller (only three inches) than that of the GCHawk.

Coming to Ceiling Near You

The Foresight Falcon looks to be the most budget-friendly overhead launch monitor on the market. And powered by Foresight’s quad camera system, the data collection is nothing short of world-class.

You can buy the Foresight Falcon starting tomorrow, Jan 3.
