Round 4 pairings for Sunday

Monkey see, monkey do.

Part two?

Wyndham Clark is game. After all, the concept — where players simply get hot together — helped him to a two-shot lead through three rounds at the Wells Fargo Championship. On Saturday at Quail Hollow Club, Clark shot a blistering eight-under 63, which just nipped playing partner Xander Schauffele, who fired a 64.

And it could continue. Yes, Schauffele is the player two back, and he and Clark make the final pairing. They go off at 1:30 p.m.

But is ‘hot begetting hot’ really a thing? You bet, Schauffele said.

To explain himself, he even added the sentence we used above.

“I feel like I’ve said it before in interviews — you just see someone doing it,” he said. “Fortunately, it was the guy next to me that I played all day. Once these guys out here see someone do it, they just end up doing it. Like when it’s really cold and rainy, you feel like, man, I feel like three-under would be a good score, then someone shoots seven-under and then all of a sudden three-under’s in like 30th. So guys are really good out here.

“Monkey see, monkey do is definitely a thing that happens out here.”

Clark is hopeful it all continues.

“Because it was a lot of fun,” he said.
